Why AI is Ruining the Internet
I don't use AI to write my blogs... I sometimes use it to generate ideas or to summarise a video I've seen so I can then write about it. But not everyone is so scrupulous. Many content creators use AI to write a whole blog/book or organise their social media posts. I can understand why they do this, it's revolutionary and incredibly time saving. But overall it's creating a generation of people who can't think for themselves. AI makes us lazy and it also stifles creativity. That's my stance anyhow.
And there's another problem. Many of the comments on my blogs - which take me time to write and even longer to consider beforehand - have been spammed with links for other products/services. So much so that I've now had to turn off the blog comments altogether.
Sorry for genuine people who want to interact with me but it's just become something an AI bot can do in milliseconds - they usually start with some praise 'I really liked the way you ....' or 'this information was really well conveyed' then there will be a link to something completely unrelated (like AI writing software, etc). There is another worrying trend which I'm seeing and having to reconsider my online presence.
The internet (and Youtube in particular_is now seemingly overrun with AI generated 'doctors' who spout AI generated content with telltale limited hand movements (watch for those repeated movements set to an AI generated backdrop - for doctors it's usually a hospital or office. They also seem to all wear scrubs (regardless of the fact that a family doctor doesn't ). One of the newest I've come across is Dr Waterling. Good content but when you realise he isn't even real it does make you question reality. No doubt an AI bot will pick this one up and want to comment on this.
If you are going to watch videos choose the established podcasts with real doctors/presenters and guests who appear in the studio. Dr Mayim Blaylik, Dr Chatterjee, Dr Eric Berg, Dr Alex, etc Watch for natural laughter, occasional mistakes (like on mine), and multiple camera angles. Although this too may be within AI's scope soon. Scary stuff.
